Club news

County Bronze match

Last Thursday Donna Adey, Barbara Shaw and Mairi Wandless played in a County Bronze match at Wheathill. Donna had a great result with 39 points and came 4th out of a field of 36 - Well done Donna.

Mairi and Barbara came in the middle of the field - Great play from all the ladies.

Men’s Open

Remember the Men’s Open on Saturday 7th September is fast approaching and promises to be a great day!

It is so important that pitch marks are repaired on the course please everyone.

For the next month when you’re playing please try to repair your pitch mark + 1 more.

Please see the below instructions on how to correctly use a pitch mark repairer. If you do it the incorrect way the roots will die.

Variety is the spice of life

Whatever happened to having a ‘textbook’ swing? If you were to watch golf on TV you’d see all sorts of different swings that have propelled these golfers to the top of the world, and the same can be said on the greens too.

There's definitely no single approach when it comes to how you grip your putter. You have a more traditional no-fuss approach that is favoured by the likes of Tiger Woods; a left-below-right grip which is a recent craze made famous by Jordan Spieth's putting heroics; and then the opposite extreme in anchoring that has recently been banned by the R&A.
