Club news

Captain's Christmas Cracker

A massive thank to everyone who turned up and played in my Christmas Cracker.

There was a good amount of festive drinking done and a Christmas Dinner which followed the golf. I believe everyone had a great day with some following on well into the evening. Owing to the amount of alcohol consumed I have to apologise as I can only remember the teams who came first and second plus the team bringing up the rear.

First were Neil Wilmington, Michael Hearn, Andrew Denning and Paul Stoodly with 58 points. This is the team that won Glynn’s event last year and true to form they have kindly donated their winnings to the Captain’s Charity.

Second were Paul Manley, Simon Lawrence, Steve Hill and Mark Ward with 57 points and, in the same manners as the winners, they donated their winnings to the Captain's Charity.

Rather than calling it a boobie prize as it was really good of them to attend we will just call it a thank you prize, so bringing up the rear of the field were Edmondo Paolioni, Bob Baber, John Andrew and Leonardo Gibson.

Once again a massive thank to all who attended!

Trolley storage update

A few of you have been asking for updates for the trolley storage container. We were held back somewhat by a hiccup with the electrics so once this is sorted I am hoping we will be up and running by the new year, but I will of course keep you all updated.

We are just finalising a date but a Members' e-mail will be sent out once we have a date confirmed

This weekend...

It is the committee weekend, nothing much different but half of the entry fee will go to the committee to fund the work they do through the year and the other half will go back out as prize money.

We have some great events coming up soon around the club for Christmas and New Year's Eve, so there are lost to keep you busy over the festive period. Course news

On the course

Dave and his team of greenkeepers are doing a great job out on the course recently.

If there is some cold frosty weather though there may be a few temporary greens or a buggy ban - this is done to preserve the ground underneath and take care of the course for the spring/summer and autumn with the course maintained impeccably this year.

Keep a look out for the Greenkeepers on their new Gator which they have taken delivery off this last week - I wonder how long it will stay this clean?

What a great job Roy, Dave and of course the team of helpers. A special thank you to Mark Seddon and Brian Hollinson for all their time and effort and YHC for the hire of equipment. Sorry if I’ve missed anybody!
