Golf on Tour

It's about to get interesting

The Northern Trust begins this week, marking the start of the FedEx Cup playoffs on the PGA Tour. The event, held at TPC Boston, will be followed by the BMW Championship before culminating in Atlanta at The Tour Championship. It’s a hell of a payday for the winner ($15 million), as well as a lot of prestige; joining a list of golf’s modern greats.

Justin Thomas has already wrapped-up the $2 million Wyndham Rewards prize for the best regular-season player, with PGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa finishing second. Thomas will be hoping to join Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods as the only players to win the FedEx Cup multiple times (both have won it twice), but it won’t be easy.

 
 
Competition news

Ron Bassett Memorial Trophy

Thank you all for your support this weekend. We had an amazing 134 entrants in the Ron Bassett Memorial Trophy this weekend and we raised £268 for the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.

As always, a special thank you to Katie Hartley and family for their help organising the competition.

The prize pools were split over the two days to allow for more entrants into the competition, with the trophy being awarded to the winner over the two days of competition.

Congratulations to Dale Wood and Ben Dickinson who won this year’s competition.

Upcoming Competitions

The Midsummer Madness competition is on Saturday 22nd August and will be in its regular format, but it will not be a shotgun start this year due to COVID restrictions. Entries will be taken on the day in the Pro Shop before your round as per normal weekend competitions.

We also still have space for our Men’s Club Championship on Sunday 23rd August with entries to be made through the Pro Shop via e-mail or phone.

It's great to see

Golf is going through a great period at the moment with lots of people taking the chance to play. One thing you'll notice is the number of golfers using an electric trolley to carry their clubs around the course, so we thought we'd highlight a couple of our favourites in this week's email.
